As the engine is operating silicon is contaminating the lubrication oil compromising its anti-frictional properties necessitating expensive additional oil changes.
Pistons, piston rings and liners, will accumulate deposits; accelerating wear, compromising performance & leading to premature failure. Being in the heart of the engine the cost of repair and the loss of generation are substantial.
Turbochargers degrade more quickly in an engine that is burning contaminated gas, particularly when deposits break away from inside the combustion surfaces and are driven between the vanes and body of the turbocharger, damaging vanes and reducing the efficiency of the unit.
All of the above items, and more, will be affected and will require premature replacement when using contaminated gas. These costs need to be taken into account when an operator calculates the ROI of any system that will clean landfill and sewage gas.
Gas pre treatment equipment, however primitive, dirty and costly to run, has been used for many years and has proven that effective decontamination will significantly extend the life of an engine and ancillary components.
Cleaning the gas is not new or untried. The BioGas AK effectively, efficiently and economically gets the job done with the minimal fuss and mess.
The system is self sufficient, automatically purifying the gas and regenerating the filter media.
Ongoing costs are significantly lower than traditional methods and human interaction is minimal permitting compliance with health and safety regulations.
